WATCH: City Welcomes Gourmet Popcorn Shop to North Main


COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Mayor Steve Benjamin and Councilman Sam Davis welcomed a new eatery to Columbia Tuesday morning.

Benjamin and Davis joined the owners of Carolina Kernels for ribbon cutting ceremony at the store’s location at  2720 North Main Street.

Geneva and Tamala are the mother/daughter duo behind the gourmet popcorn shop and their personable and friendly staff is what keeps customers coming back.

Carolina Kernels is a gourmet popcorn shop with over 60 flavors, to include: Cookies ‘N’ Cream, Key Lime, Chocolate Drizzle and Toffee.  Carolina Kernelshas also been selected as the Office of Business Opportunities’ Business Spotlight for the month of February.

Many say that the gourmet popcorn shop is the best kept secret in Columbia and it is currently sold at the Colonial Life Arena during their basketball games.
