Discussing the Role of School Resource Officers

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A video that sparked backlash across the country is opening up the discussion on the roles school resource officers should play in school discipline.

Back in October, a Spring Valley High School resource officer was caught on camera slamming a student to the ground.

On Tuesday, the University of South Carolina School of Law and College of Education will hold a community forum to discuss ways that policies can be reshaped to provide better outcomes for students.

That will take place at the USC School of Law auditorium, at 6:00 until 7:30 Tuesday evening.
