Police: Someone Stole $600 from Beaufort Girl Scout Troop
BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — Police say someone has stolen money from Girl Scout Troop 45 in Beaufort as they were selling cookies.
Beaufort police spokeswoman Hope Able tells the Island Packet that the theft happened Saturday afternoon while a group of Girl Scouts were selling cookies in the Beaufort Lowe’s parking lot. An as-of-yet unidentified suspect stole a money bag containing about $600, as well as badges the girls had earned for participating in the Beaufort Christmas parade.
Scout mom Jennifer Taylor says the girls searched through the boxes of cookies for the money, but were fruitless.
Taylor says Troop 45 has received $324 in donations over the course of its cookie sale. The scouts need another $276 – or 69 boxes of cookies – to make up for the entire loss.
