Lawmakers discuss housing solutions aimed at bettering outcomes for affected children
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Friday morning, October 23, a handful of state lawmakers came together for a bipartisan discussion on housing solutions aimed at bettering outcomes for affected children.
Leaders with the event’s host “The Institute For Child Success,” say children thrive when they have a safe, stable environment to grow up in.
The panel took questions around affordable construction, the rising cost of rent, zoning, and simplifying regulations.
Deborah DePauly with the organization says solutions will only come with collaboration between government, non-profits, for-profits, and the faith community.
She has a call to action for everyone wanting to help with the housing issue.
DePauly says a stable environment creates a long-term ripple effect in a child’s life leading them to better health and academic outcomes.
