A Look Back at Severe Weather in 2015 in the USA

Here’s a cool map that shows all the severe weather that was reported in 2015. Just a few observations.

We here in South Carolina get a whole lot of wind damage from thunderstorms. There’s as much blue concentrated in our state as there is anywhere.

A quick look at the tornadoes gives us some interesting observations as well. Almost 93% of the tornadoes were EF0 or EF1. There were no EF5 tornadoes – the strongest category. Only 3 of the 1177 tornadoes were EF4. Put another way. One quarter of 1% (3 out of 1177) of the tornadoes were EF4’s.
