South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Matt Southern told local media outlets that the wreck happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 601 about five miles from Eastover.

Southern said the minivan pulled in front of the rig at an intersection. Both victims were trapped in the vehicle.

Southern said the man and woman died at the scene. Their names have not been released.

The wreck is still under investigation but Southern says he does not think the truck driver will face any charges.
