Cadet Would Like to Wear Hijab

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – The Citadel is considering a request from a new student that the military school’s longstanding uniform requirements be tweaked to allow her to wear a traditional Muslim headscarf.

Citadel spokeswoman Kim Keelor said Friday the incoming freshman who has been accepted for this year’s class has asked to be allowed to wear a head covering.

A decision could come in a few weeks.
