Watch: Columbia Apartment Fire leaves dozens out of a home

Columbia Fire officials are working to determine the cause of an apartment fire in Southeast Richland County.

It happened at Lakeshore Village Apartments, located at 7645 Garners Ferry Road.

Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins says they believe the fire started on the first flood of that apartment complex.

Officials say of the 16 units in that complex, eight were severely damaged. Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the 29 occupants displaced due to the blaze.

This is an ongoing investigation.
