Benedict Men’s Golf Team Moves To 7th At PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (Benedict Athletics) — The Benedict College men’s golf team moved up one spot to seventh place at the 30th PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship, which is being contested at PGA Golf Club.

The Tigers shot a 317 during Saturday’s second round to move ahead of SIAC rival Morehouse College. Morehouse, which started the day with a 10-stroke lead over Benedict, shot a 333 on Saturday and now trails Benedict by six strokes.

The Tigers now have their sights set on Lincoln University, which sits in sixth place with a two-round score of 640, 13 strokes ahead of Benedict. SIAC champion Miles College is in fifth with a 637, 16 strokes ahead of Benedict.

Rajai Cousley, the SIAC men’s golfer of the year and individual champion of the SIAC tournament, shot a 78 on Saturday to lead the Tigers. Kelly Allen shot a 79. Muhammed NuMan shot an 80 on Saturday and still leads the Tigers with a two-day score of 159. Rhalston Jones shot an 80, a nine-stroke improvement, while Marqus Edwards improved by five strokes with an 84.

The 54-hole, stroke-play Championship, which consists of six divisions (four teams, two individual), concludes Sunday.
