9th Inning Hit Extends JBJ’s Streak To 23

Former Gamecock Jackie Bradley Jr. came up with a clutch 9th inning single Tuesday afternoon to extend his major league leading hitting streak to 23 straight games.  Bradley and Boston lost game one of a doubleheader at Kansas City 3-2.

Fellow Gamecock great Whit Merrifield was officially called up to the big leagues for the first time after the game.  The 27-year-old Merrifield was activated by the Kansas City Royals for game two.  Merrifield was hitting .278 with 5 HRs in 36 games at Triple-A Omaha.
