Emanuel AME Pastor Reassigned

Rev. Dr. Betty Deas Clark

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WOLO) — The first permanent pastor of Emanuel AME Church, where nine parishioners were killed a little more than a year ago during a Bible study, has been reassigned.

According to the Post and Courier, Reverend Berry Deas Clark moved to a church in Georgetown Tuesday.

The move comes after just five months at the Charleston church.  No word yet on why she moved after such a short tenure.

Sources say Bethel AME Church’s pastor Reverend Eric Manning, will most likely go to Mother Emanuel.

The move comes in the middle of 12 days of events organized by the church to honor the Emanuel nine.
