DHEC to offer New App for Restaurant Health Scores

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Health Officials in South Carolina are launching a new web application which provides restaurant food ratings and scores from The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.

The S.C. Food Grades program allows you to find restaurants on the map and then click to view the two most recent inspection scores. say officials.

You can also view the food scores by street, city or county and name.

According to DHEC Officials “Food safety is our number one goal, and this innovative new tool provides the public with up-to-date information in a user-friendly format,” said Renee Shealy, Chief of DHEC’s Bureau of Environmental Health Services. “South Carolina is known for its good food, and DHEC works closely with retail food establishments to help ensure that good hospitality and food safety are always hand-in-hand.”

DHEC inspects each of the more than 18,000 food establishments in the state, each year.
