Using Emojis, New SC Ad Urges That Drinking + Driving = Heartbreak

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – Keeping South Carolina’s roadways safe is always a top priority for the state’s law enforcement agencies.

On Tuesday, the Department of Public Safety is kicking off its Sober or Slammer campaign at its Troop One office in Columbia. Along with local law enforcement agencies, the department is previewing a new public service announcement that uses emojis to drive home the message that drinking and driving don’t mix.

South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Bob Beres has gained national attention for his use of emojis on social media platforms encouraging people to be safe while on the state’s roadways.
