COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–It’s the unofficial end of Summer and many South Carolina drivers are hitting the road today for that quick beach trip or trip to Lake Murray.

Triple A estimates nearly 500,000 South Carolinians are travelling over the course of the Labor Day Holiday. Many drivers are taking advantage of the low gas prices.

Here in the Midlands, drivers are paying an average of $1.96 a gallon.

If you are not hitting the roadways, but the waterways instead on this Labor Day, Law Enforcement is asking you to remember boating safety.
