2 Charged with Murder After Man is Run Over in Parking Lot

RIDGE SPRING, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say two men have been charged with murder after running over a man twice after an argument at a gas station in a small Saluda County town.

Sheriff’s Deputy TR Scofield told reporters at the scene that the men tried to drive away from the Kent’s Korner store in Ridge Spring, but their car broke down a short time later.

Scofield says two volunteer firefighters followed the car and radioed updates to dispatchers. Authorities say police dogs tracked down one suspect, and the other man turned himself in.

Coroner Keith Turner identified the victim as 34-year-old Schanen Samuels.

Deputies say Lamar Shannon and Gregory Slayton remain in jail. It wasn’t known if they had lawyers.
