HOLLY HILL, S.C. (WOLO) – Two pounds of marijuana was seized from a Holly Hill man following a traffic stop Thursday police say.

37-year-old Daniel Devine is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Just after 9 p.m. investigators patrolling near Santee noticed a Chevrolet Tahoe make a turn into an Old Number Six Highway car wash without using a turn signal, authorities say.

As investigators approached the vehicle, authorities say they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle yielded a discount store bag containing two plastic bags of marijuana and smaller bag that also contained marijuana.

According to the police report, a substantial amount of money was also seized.

A passenger in the vehicle was released after being questioned during the initial investigation, police say.

“Our investigators stopped a vehicle for a simple traffic violation that turned into a sizable narcotics seizure,” Ravenell said. “This traffic stop removed a considerable amount of marijuana from our streets.”
