COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley updated the state Wednesday evening on the path of Hurricane Mathew and the evacuation plan.

Haley says it has been difficult to plan for 48 hours ahead when the storm is shifting. When all is said and done , Haley says they are expecting approximately 500 thousand evacuees.

Haley says there are 32 shelters now open in South Carolina and the lane reversals on 1-26 are moving at a good pace.

The lane reversals are expected to be in place through at least Friday morning.

Haley says they are working with State Attorney to prevent gas price gouging.
