COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–State officials are monitoring rivers across the state and especially near the coastal regions as rains from Hurricane Mathew caused major flooding in South Carolina’s low lying and coastal regions.

Governor Nikki Haley says they are very closely watching the state’s rivers, including the Edisto and Waccamaw Rivers.

Haley says she does expect the Waccamaw River to crest sometime around Monday or Tuesday.

Haley reminded folks, If you remember the flood from last year, that caused a lot of additional problems, so we are watching the rivers closely.
