Governor Haley Lifts All Evacuation Orders for SC Coast

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–Governor Nikki Haley has lifted all evacuation orders for the coast.

Haley said Monday that residents in Horry and Georgetown counties could return home.

Evacuation orders for Charleston, Beaufort and other coastal counties were lifted Sunday.

However, officials with SC EMD are reminding residents to be patient in their return home. The coastal areas were slammed by Hurricane Mathew, resulting in downed

trees and downed power lines.

Nearly 500, 000 were still without power Monday. Utility crews have been working around the clock to get into the hardest hit areas.

Meanwhile, State Officials, Monday, are closely monitoring several rivers including the Edisto and Pee Dee for potential cresting.

Marion county is experiencing flood waters and the National Guard is reportedly working with area crews to monitor rising waters.
