Richland Co. Deputies Make Arrest in Connection with Puppy Burned Case
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says it has made an arrest in what officials are calling a horrific case of animal cruelty.
Deputies announced Monday that 21 year old Hykeem Jabar Golson has been charged with Ill Treatment of Animals Felony, in connection with the case.
Deputies say Golson set fire to an 8-10 week old Pitbull puppy Saturday night in the parking lot of Grace United Methodist Church off Harbison Blvd.
Sheriff Leon Lott says Golson used an accelerant and other materials to set the puppy on fire.
The puppy was taken to an animal hospital where it died.
