USC hit 12 three pointers, shooting 50-percent from long range, as Sindarius Thornwell knocked down four in the Gamecocks’ 81-49 win over Holy Cross Sunday night. The senior had a game-high 20 points while Spring Valley alum PJ Dozier added 15.

Leading by 12 at the half, Carolina took further control of the game in the second half, outscoring the Crusaders over the last 20 minutes 37-17.

Sunday night also marked the USC-debut of freshman guard Rakym Felder, who had previously been suspended indefinitely following his arrest on October 23. Felder had been on the bench but wasn’t dressed in the exhibition against Newberry and didn’t play against Louisiana Tech in the season opener.

“Ra Felder played because it’s my decision that he has accepted everything that came his way for his mistake. And (athletic director) Ray Tanner and I have been in direct communication about that. If for the last four years, the way I handle discipline doesn’t earn me a little bit of credit when I think a guy deserves to play and doesn’t need to play, then I don’t need to spend a lot of time in this conversation. He’s a beautiful kid. Not a good kid, a beautiful kid.”

USC (2-0) returns to the hardwood Tuesday, hosting Monmouth at 6:30 PM.
