COLUMBIA SC (WOLO)–November 23 was an average Wednesday night for recent Benedict College grad Jessica “Jessa” Gaitor…that is until she was hit by a vehicle while walking, leaving her in critical condition, and facing bills totaling $75,000 and rising.

Jessa, however, is getting a little help from her friends, and hopefully, the community.  “Jessa joined us a couple years ago as an intern,” says Seth Gadsden from the Nickelodeon Theater who appeared on Good Morning Columbia, “She quickly added to her responsibilities becoming Assistant Theater Manager.”  Gadsden says that Jessa has become an educator at the theater, and a “talented filmmaker.”

Jessa’s reach has gone well beyond her family at the Nick, which has been the motivating force for several fundraising events all over the city.

According to Gadsden, The Thirsty Fellow is hosting a percentage night on Tuesday, December 13, and Friday, Scoopy-Doo in Five Points is following suit.

There has also been a crowdfunding campaign created, all with the mission of helping Jessa focus on getting better, rather than trying to figure out how to deal with the mounting bills.
