Deputies arrest man in connection to shooting on US 15
SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) – An argument between two men lead to one man allegedly shooting the another in the leg.
The suspect sought in the shooting on US 15 South near Old Manning Road has been arrested.
Sumter County Sheriffs officer said Marcus Evans, AKA Tony Evans, 41, was arrested in Dorchester County during a traffic stop.
Deputies will bring Evans back to Sumter on Saturday where he will be charged with attempted murder and possibly other charges.
“We’d like to thank the people who provided us with tips as well as commend the diligence of Dorchester County authorities in apprehending Mr. Evans,” said Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis. “This is just another example of the public and law enforcement working together to get criminals off of our streets.”
Deputies with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said the 21-year-old victim and Evans were fighting beside the roadway on US 15 South before the shooting.
According to witnesses, Evans drove off after the incident.
The victim suffered non life threatening injuries.
Deputies are still looking for the suspect and the investigation is ongoing.
