COLUMBIA SC (WOLO)–It’s the classic tale of a promised marriage left by the wayside by the lure of a swan.  The Columbia City Ballet’s William Starrett says that his version of Tchaikovsky’s  classic Swan Lake will follow the traditional story, where an engaged man heads into the woods to hunt before his wedding.  While in the wild, he comes across a beautiful woman who spends half her time as a swan because of an evil spell.

“It’s the first time in a long time,” according to Starrett, “that the South Carolina Philharmonic will play alongside the performance.”

The Columbia City Ballet’s Swan Lake will be performed two times this weekend at the Koger Center, on Friday and Saturday.  Starrett has also invited the public to the Swan Lake Black and White ball at the Embassy Suites after the Saturday performance.
