Staley Speaks on Tennessee Loss, Lessons Learned by Gamecocks
Following Carolina’s first loss of the SEC season, dropping to Tennessee at home 76-74 Monday night, Dawn Staley spoke about the result, what it means for her Gamecocks moving forward, and what it will take to get back on track. What she did not discuss on were the 21 fouls called against her team.
A’ja Wilson had four against her from the middle of the third quarter on, including a technical which followed the third whistle her way. That limited the All-American on the night to just 22 minutes, while she still scored 14 points. Combine Wilson’s mark with the calls against Allisha Gray (four), Tyasha Harris (four), and Alaina Coates (three), and their 15 fouls equals the total mark of against Tennessee’s entire team.
