COLUMBIA SC (WOLO)-“It’s going to be a close game,” says Former Gamecock and Patriot Rick Sanford about Sunday’s Super Bowl 51.  Sanford, who holds the distinction of, in 1979, being the first Gamecock to be drafted in the NFL first draft round in the history of the program.  Sanford went on to play for six years for the New England Patriots, and spent a year with Seattle before retiring back in the Midlands.

Sanford points out that although it has been since 1999 since the Falcons played in the big game, the Patriots having had 8 prior trips in the last several years, have a lot of new guys on the squad, which could play into nerves or “jitters.”

By a small margin, Sanford thinks that Tom Brady’s New England Patriots will rack up another Super Bowl win on Sunday.

Sanford currently hosts a daily sports talk show on 620Am WGVD and 96.3FM.
