W. Columbia PD Investigates Shooting in Business Parking Lot

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – West Columbia Police are searching for a man they said shot someone in the head in a business parking lot Monday afternoon.

Investigators said the victim was shot in a parking lot in the 2800 block of Augusta Road around 3:00 p.m.

Police said a white male wearing all black came from a wooded area near the parking lot and approached the victims car. The two had a discussion that ended with a victim being shot in the back of the head.

“They had some type of discussion, we’re not sure what was going on there but at one point the white male was there at the vehicle and got hit in the back of the head with some type of round, we don’t know what, we just know he was shot with something,”Assistant Chief Scott Morrison said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital.

Authorities said the suspect fled on foot into the wooded area.

“We’re not sure if he remained on foot or got picked up by a vehicle at this time but we’re looking into all that,” Morrison said.

Officers said the suspect is no longer be in the area and can still be armed.
