4 Shot, 1 Detained After Shooting on Fairfield Road
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Richland County Deputies are investigating after four people were shot at a home on Fairfield Road Tuesday evening.
Deputies said they responded to a shots fired call in the 5500 block of Fairfield road in Richland County at 5pm.
According to investigators, the four victims were shot in the upper body, and they believe the victims knew each other.
One of the victims family members tell ABC Columbia news that his sister wasn’t shot in the upper body, she actually suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh.
“I was nervous at first concerned about her health and wondered if she would be OK,” shooting victim brother, Edward Myers said.
Myers said when he got the call about his sister he didn’t know the road rage incident escalated to gun fire.
“Road Rage is not that serious, especially to the point when you’re trying to take someone’s life,” Myers said.
Myers sister has been released from the hospital and is recovering from her gunshot wound.
The other three victims conditions are unknown at this time.
For hours deputies roped off the trailer park off Fairfield Road to investigate the crime scene. Some residents said crime is starting to become an issue in that community.
“It’s getting rough because I hear gunshots almost every night,” neighbor, Katiya Jenkins said. “I have a lot of fear because of my kids, but I’m looking to move, that’s how bad its gotten.”
Deputies are still investigating and said they are looking for other possible suspects.
Authorities have one person has been detained.
