Sen. Elizabeth Warren Temporarily Banned
Washington, D.C (WOLO) — Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has been temporarily barred from speaking on the house floor after a verbal battle with fellow Kentucky Senator Mitch McConell Tuesday.
The incident unfolded during a debate over the nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions for Attorney General. Warren says she was quoting a letter written by the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Wife, Coretta Scott King in which she was critical of Sessions.
Majority Leader Mitch McConell stopped Warren in her tracks and reminded her of a rule that prohibits members of the Senate from criticizing another Senator.
Warren was barred from speaking on the floor until debates have concluded, but that didn’t stop Warren from speaking out on social media. Warren took to twitter shortly after the incident saying ” I will not be silent about a nominee for AG who has made derogatory and racist comments that have no place in our justice system.”
