Claflin Baseball Host St. Augustine’s Saturday

Orangeburg, S.C. (Claflin) The Claflin University baseball team will be in search of their first win of the season when they face St. Augustine’s University this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11-12.

Claflin and St. Augustine’s will meet in a four-game home-and-home series.

The Panthers will host Saturday’s doubleheader in Orangeburg at Historic Mirmow Field. The first game is slated for 1 p.m. followed by the second at approximately 4 p.m.

The series shifts to Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday for two games, starting at 1 p.m. with the second to follow at approximately 4 p.m.

Claflin will enter the  series winless on the season at 0-4. The Panthers dropped three games in the Carolina Hospital System Baseball Classic in Florence. Claflin fell to host Francis Marion University, North Greenville University and Wingate University.

The Panthers also dropped their home-opener to Lincoln Memorial University earlier in the week.

Last season Claflin won all three games of the series with Saint Augustine’s (6-2, 8-3, and 11-0).

The Panthers will face Coker College, Wed. Feb. 15, before returning home for their next 13 contests.
