The SEC named Gamecock guard Sindarius Thornwell the league’s Player of the Week today, but the big news: Thornwell is still being considered for the conference’s Player of the Year title.
Thornwell is having his best season at USC, averaging over 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals per game. He’s the only player to put up those number in the last 20 years besides Caron Butler (UConn).
The only criticism of Thornwell is his suspension back in December for violating an athletics department policy, but Frank Martin says he would strongly disagree if that suspension was held against his leading-scorer.
