Fitness Friday: Abs are made in the kitchen and other tips for the core
Chris Wooten joined Tyler Ryan to talk about working the core.
LEXINGTON SC (WOLO) – Chris Wooten, owner of The Body Shop in Lexington, says that at the root of any healthy lifestyle is working on the core.
“Everyone is always focused on abs and talk about the core but everybody is doing crunches and focusing on the front of the body and not realizing that it all works together,” says Wooten.
Wooten also offers these tips:
- back pain sometimes abs strong, but low back weak and work against each other
- core of the apple isnt the front of the apple, its what is underneath
- “i want abs” 70% of that is diet- abs made in the kitchen, strong core developed by training
Wooten points out that the ab is one large muscle with distinct parts- no such thing as a LOWER AB and UPPER AB
although you can put the focus on a portion of that muscle, hard to isolate without involving the other portion
