Motorcyclist Killed After Being Thrown From Bike in Sumter

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C.(WOLO)- A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a car Saturday night in Sumter.

Troopers say the crash happened around 8:00 p.m when driver of a 2000 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling south bound on US-15  near Browntown. Officials say the driver drove left center and crashed into the front of Shanel Pearson’s Nissan Maxima.

According to Troopers, the impact of the crash caused the cyclist to be ejected from the bike, and died on the scene. The driver was wearing a helmet.

Pearson was wearing a seat-belt and suffered minor injures. She was taken to an area hospital to be treated.
