Local Stores Get Gamecock Women Championship T-Shirts, Fan React

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- South Carolina fans are bursting with excitement, buying gear to commemorate Dawn Staley’s championship winning team. Some fans said they had to get the shirts as soon as they hit shelves.
“We came up here just to make sure we had our shirts supporting the Gamecocks. The LADY Gamecocks. And we’re just so excited and so happy for Dawn and her team. They have done great. I prayed and prayed and prayed for them to get it!” said Patricia Riley and Mary L. Smith, Gamecock fans of Swansea.
Store managers said business has been steady with both Gamecock teams going far in the big dance and they are just as happy as the fans are.

“It’s been great, of course we’ve been busy. But you know all of us are such huge fans of the coaches and they’ve just done such a wonderful job and we’re just excited for them. We’re just living up the excitement and we’re just happy for everyone,” said Erica Lester of Garnet and Black Traditions.

Fans we spoke with said last night’s win was emotional but gratifying. “We jumped up screaming and congratulating the Lady Gamecocks and we’re proud of them for their win and success,” said David McCoy.
