Severe Weather Floods Downtown Streets, Strands Drivers

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Severe weather prompted flash flood warnings across the Midlands.

From the usual areas near downtown at Whaley street and Main, to areas that don’t normally see flooding, streets were underwater Wednesday afternoon.

Columbia Fire officials barricaded Saluda Avenue in Five Points, and Whaley at Main.

Drivers were stranded across parts of downtown. We saw flooding near Taylor and Bull streets and Main and Gervais.
