Local Foundation Gets Ready for Annual Midlands Gives Challenge
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- May 2, 2017 marks the fourth year our area will take part in Midlands Gives, a 24-hour online event that encourages people to donate to charitable causes. Central Carolina Community, the foundation hosting the challenge, says giving back helps every one around us.
“We’re all impacted by nonprofits, whether it’s our local hospital or animal shelters or kids activities, they help and touch every aspect of our lives. By giving and supporting these nonprofits, we are helping and supporting the entire community become a better place,” said Communications Manager Cherise Arrendale.
Each year, Midlands Gives raises funds to help local organizations like the Babcock Center, an organization that supports independent living skills for adults with disabilities. Babcock says they have participated in Midlands Gives every year, raising more money each time.
“It’s a great online giving event, it helps us obviously raise funds but also raise awareness in the community of our organization and what we do as well as the other non profits in the area so we’re very grateful to them for organizing this,” said Foundation Director Carrie Deaton.
The center hopes to raise about $5,000 this year. If you want to learn more about how you can give to the Babcock Center through Midlands Gives, visit MidlandsGives.org
