Sumter man accused of attacking, raping 71-year-old woman

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) – A Rembert man is behind bars charged with first degree burglary and first criminal sexual conduct after deputies say he violently attacked and raped an elderly woman overnight.
44-year-old Van Curtis “Jody” Mungo II, is accused of forcing his way into the 71-year-old victim’s home around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
Deputies say the victim was able to go to a neighbor’s house and call authorities after the attack.
