COLUMBIA SC (WOLO) — It’s a simple jump to say that the power of philanthropy is in the purse – or even the wallet- but in the case of the annual event sponsored by the United Way and the Midlands chapter of Women and Philanthropy, its takes on a more literal meaning.

The 14th Power of the Purse event promises to be an evening of entertainment, music, food, tasty cocktails, and of course donations to the WIP’s mission of “improving the lives of women and children through active leadership and collective philanthropy.”

The event is scheduled for Thursday May 18th, starting at 5:30PM, at 701 Whaley.  Attendees will find a live and silent auction, with items including luggage, backpacks, restaurant packages, as well as designer purses and handbags.
