Governor McMaster Signs New Freedom of Information Legislation

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–– Governor Henry McMaster signed a new bill into law Wednesday designed to remove a stumbling block from the Freedom of Information Act.

The new law will require state government agencies to respond to public records requests within 10 days of receiving a request and produce the records within 30 days of determination.

According to the Governor, “This bill is an important step towards moving government transparency where it needs to be in South Carolina,” said Governor Henry McMaster.
