SC Lawmakers React to Special Session Request over Nuclear Reactors

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– A bi partisan group of lawmakers is calling for a special session of the General Assembly to deal with fallout from the shutdown of construction on two nuclear reactors.

However, House Speaker Jay Lucas says he is not ready to call a special session over the halting of construction at VC Summer Nuclear.

On Monday, Santee Cooper and SCANA announced they were abandoning the project. The halting of construction has left thousands of workers without a job.

ABC Columbia News spoke with Senator Nikki Setzler about his thoughts on convening lawmakers for the session. He along with two other lawmakers, sent a letter requesting the session.
