Total Eclipse Could Disrupt Some Cell Service in SC
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– When the Total Solar Eclipse happens on August 21, you may be seeing the moon over the sun, but you may not be seeing your live stream of it.
Some cell phone providers say they’re working to ensure service is not interrupted.
A spokesperson for u-s cellular says any time a large group of people are in one area…. there is a substantial increase in network traffic.
There are an estimated 600 thousand people coming to Columbia for the Eclipse, and that could certainly create an increase in network traffic.
Experts say they do not anticipate interruptions in calls and texts.
But it could be difficult to live-stream the event or access certain apps.
