SOUTH EL MONTE, C.A. (WOLO)-

The next giant leap in space exploration has some very big roots in Southern California.

On Wednesday, the very first structural piece of NASA’s Orion Spacecraft was unveiled in the very South El Monte facility it was built in.

The family-run AMRO fabricating corporation is building many of the pieces that make up the vessel, including the window panels astronauts will look out of as they journey into deep space.

NASA’s Orion Spacecraft will enable astronauts to travel deeper into space than ever before, when it launches in the early 2020’s.

NASA hopes Orion can one day send astronauts all the way to Mars.

AMRO will fabricate 3 of the 7 sections that make up Orion’s crew vessel at its’ South El Monte facility.

Those pieces will then be shipped to NASA’s facility in New Orleans to be assembled.
