Gamecocks hold off NC State for first win of 2017
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WOLO) — Behind Jake Bentley’s 215 yards and 3 TD’s, the Gamecocks held off a late NC State charge to beat the Wolfpack, 35-28 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Saturday night.
Carolina’s defense held strong. With :15 to play in the game on fouth down, the Gamecocks forced an incomplete pass from NC State quarterback Ryan Finley that sealed USC’s win.
Deebo Samuel had 170 all-purpose yards and 3 TD’s for the Gamecocks, including a 97-yard kickoff return for six.
USC now faces Missouri next weekend in Columbia, MO.
