Gamecock men’s soccer hosts FAU Saturday

COLUMBIA SC. (WOLO) – Conference USA kicks off Saturday night with South Carolina hosting the FAU Owls. The match will begin at 7 p.m. at Stone Stadium.  South Carolina led the all time series with the Owls 4-0-0. USC Head Coach Mark Berson states, “In a conference match everything is a bit tighter. There is a little bit more anxiety and tension. That’ll be interesting to see how we play through that on Saturday night.”

Head coach Joey Worthen, a former Gamecock player and assistant coach, leads the Owls this season. As a coach he was a part of two NCAA tournament teams with 39 wins.  The Owls have 17 returning players and 11 newcomers on their roster. Overall last year the team went 2-6-0 in conference play.

Fans are encouraged to wear teal to the match to help raise awareness for ovarian cancer.

There will be no mid-week match this week. The Gamecocks will hit the road next week to play Marshall in Huntington, W. Va.
