DURHAM N.C. — The South Carolina State Bulldogs (1-1) hit the road to take on defending MEAC Champion North Carolina Central (1-1) in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener Thursday at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPNU/ESPN3.

NCCU is coming off a bye week. On September 9, the Eagles amassed 393 yards of total offense and kept Shaw University off the scoreboard in a 41-0 win at O’Kelly-Riddick Staidum. The closes the Bears got to the end zone was the NCCU 42-yard line.

SC State Bulldogs senior kicker Tyler Scandrett connected four field goals as South Carolina State cruised to a 41-0 shutout over Johnson C. Smith on September 16 at Oliver Dawson Stadium.

This will be the 23rd meeting between the two schools since they first played in 1972. South Carolina State leads the series 12-10. The Eagles won the last meeting with a 48-35 victory in Orangeburg back in 2014. Both NCCU and Sc State are coming off 41-0 victories over CIAA teams.

The game was previously scheduled for Saturday September 23, but was changed to be played live on national television on ESPNU/ESPN3.
