No.8 Clemson Hosts Pittsburgh in ACC Match Friday

COLUMBIA S.C. — Clemson men’s soccer (6-1-0) will host the Pittsburgh Panthers (3-4-0) on Friday, September 22 at 7 p.m. The match will be at Historic Riggs Field in Clemson, SC.
Clemson is coming off a 3-0 win over UCLA at Historic Riggs Field on Tuesday night. Diego Campos scored on a penalty kick in the third minute after Harrison Kurtz was brought down in the box. Patrick Bunk-Andersen headed in his second goal off an assist from Campos. Kimarni Smith scored his third goal off an assist from Grayson Raynor.
Clemson ranks second in the ACC in goals allowed (four in seven matches) and goals against average (0.56). The Tigers also rank first in the ACC and sixth nationally in average home attendance (2,685 per match). Clemson opened the season with four consecutive wins for the first time since 2013. Clemson is ranked No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and are among one of the seven ACC teams in the top 11.
Pittsburgh is coming off a 2-1 victory over winless Robert Morris team on Tuesday night at home. Colin Breznaik and Joshua Gaspari contributed goals in the win.
The Tigers and Panthers have only met twice previously, once in Clemson and once in Pittsburgh, and Clemson took both matches 2-0. Dating back to 2013, Clemson leads the overall series 2-0-0.
The next match for Clemson men’s soccer will be on Tuesday, September 26 at 7 p.m. against Charlotte.
