Governor McMaster proposes end to sanctuary cities

COLUMBIA, SC (AP/WOLO) – South Carolina’s Governor is asking Legislators to require Cities and Counties to prove they’re checking the immigration or citizenship status of anyone charged with a crime. Gov. Henry McMaster said Monday that South Carolina now has no so-called Sanctuary Cities that shield people in the county illegally. But he says it is better to fix something before it gets broken.
In a statement Governor McMaster said in part, “Our cities are open to all who follow our laws, but are not sanctuaries for those who ignore them,”.
