Man charged with sexually assaulting three children

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A Lugoff man has been charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct, after deputies said he admitted to assaulting three children.

Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office authorities said David Barton, 42, is charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11 years old and one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 14.

Investigators said they were alerted to the crimes on January 14. In one case, they said, the assault lasted for four years starting when the child was nine years old, and continuing through January 2018. In the second and third cases, deputies said the sexual activity took place on kids who were under the ages of 11 and 14.

Sheriff’s investigators said more charges could come, and that Barton does not have a criminal record.
