Columbia, SC (WOLO) — A Florida power company is reportedly considering purchasing Santee Cooper for 16 billion dollars.

Next-Era Energy is one of several groups interested in buying the state-owned utility.

Santee Cooper and SCE&G spent 9 billion dollars on the construction of two nuclear reactors before abandoning the project last summer.
