Columbia, S.C. — Gamecock basketball head coach Frank Martin stated in a press conference on Monday that he would be, “surprised,” if former guard P.J. Dozier was involved in anything that might conflict with the values of the school.

These comments were made following a Yahoo Sports report published on Friday morning that listed Dozier, a former USC standout, and crucial piece to the Gamecocks final four run last year, as well as current USC player Brian Bowen, as players who received monetary benefits from the ASM sports agency.

The Yahoo report claimed that Dozier received at least $6,115 in benefits while in school. The report also claimed that Bowen (a transfer from Louisville following the Rick Pitino Scandal) received at least $7,000 in financial benefits.

Yahoo published another report Saturday morning, citing USC assistant Chuck Martin as being referenced in an email from ASM discussing Brian Bowen’s recruitment.

Martin remains adamant of his lack of involvement with the allegations. He added that “Chuck’s a good man. Chuck’s not involved in any of this,” regarding Chuck Martin, and that Dozier is, “crushed,” that his name is wrapped up with the allegations.
